DNS Services for Buffalo Free-Net Hosted Special Interest Groups
The Buffalo Free-Net and Choice
One OnLine, Inc.
offer Buffalo Free-Net Special Interest Groups the ability to have their own third or
second level domain names for their Buffalo Free-Net hosted web site.
A third level domain name is a sub domain within the bfn.org domain that uniquely
represents your Special Interest Group. As a third level domain, you will be able to
present your web site's URL as http://your-name.bfn.org For example,
http://handicap.bfn.org/ Anyone entering that URL will be taken directly to your Special
Interest Group's home page.
A third level domain name is our normal addressing scheme and is included as part of
our standard free web hosting service. In exchange for the name service, you are required to
include the following (or substantially equivalent) HTML on your home page:

The Buffalo Free-Net and Choice One OnLine, Inc. also offer their Special Interest
Groups second level domain name hosting. A second level domain name is a domain name that
is totally unique to your Special Interest Group. It does not include the
"bfn.org" portion of the third level domains described above.
You may select any available domain name appropriate to your group. For example,
handicap.org, science.org, crs.org, startrek.org, etc. Anyone entering that URL will be
taken directly to your Special Interest Group's home page. In most cases you should try
to choose a name ending in .org rather than .com, etc.
Second level domain name hosting carries with it the following fees:
Annual registration fee payable to the registrar of your choice. This fee will vary
depending on the registrar you choose and sometimes the Top Level Domain you
select (i.e. .org, .com, etc.).
While you may register your domain name with any registrar, the use of Choice One
OnLine's domain name registration service will greatly simplify setting up your account.

In addition to this registration fee, there is a charge of one hundred dollars per
year for domain names services. However, Choice One OnLine, Inc. will waive
their $100 annual DNS fee for non-profit organizations, government agencies, and educational
institutions.
In exchange for this service you must include the following (or substantially equivalent)
HTML on your home page:
